Evans Hired as Development Director
The Massanutten Regional Library would like to announce the appointment of Michael Evans as Development Director for Massanutten Regional Library.
Evans is no stranger to MRL. He served six years on the Board of Trustees for Massanutten Regional Library, including three years on the Executive Committee. He served in the capacity of treasurer and president during three years of his Board of Trustees term. Formerly co-manager of the Green Valley Book Fair, Inc., of Mount Crawford, Evans is also a member of the Friends of Massanutten Regional Main Library.
Evans attended the College of William and Mary where he earned a BA in English. He also attended the University of North Carolina and the University of Iowa, earning an MFA in Poetry in 1994.
Evans presently serves on the Board of Trustees for the Staunton Montessori School and is a Rockingham Luncheon Ruritan Club member.
“As a life-long reader and book lover, I’m excited to be joining a great organization that stands at the very heart of our area. Within the walls of our seven branch libraries, you’ll find every member of our community. From infants with their parents at story time to teens and adults gathering for book groups to retirees using our computers to connect with distant friends, Massanutten Regional Library is a vital, living part of our region, and I look forward to adding my modest part to its continued future success,” says Evans.
“Michael’s involvement with MRL in recent years has given him a deep familiarity of our regional library system. A longtime Shenandoah Valley resident, he comes also with a thorough understanding of the community we serve!” states Lois Jones, Library Director of the Massanutten Regional Library system.
