Massanutten Regional Library is excited to partner with JMU’s Special Collections Library & the Harrisonburg-Rockingham Historical Society to bring this special event honoring the late Robert “Bob” James Sullivan Jr. In April 2014, JMU Special Collections acquired the first of two donations of papers belonging to Mr. Sullivan – Harrisonburg’s “unofficial historian” and city planner for over two decades. These papers, dating from 1930 to 2013, are a culmination of Mr. Sullivan’s lifetime of work and include maps, reports, newspaper clippings, personal papers, and hundreds of slides and photographs.
On Thursday, April 20 at 7:00 PM, we will celebrate Mr. Sullivan’s contribution to the Harrisonburg community – as a lifelong public servant and a devoted compiler of history – with Exploring “Every Inch of Harrisonburg”: The Robert J. Sullivan Jr. Papers. Speakers include Charlie Chenault and Dr. David Ehrenpreis.
