Rocktown Author Festival: Panel Session III - Stories That Reflect Us All: Writing Diverse Characters and Narratives

Adults: join us for our third Panel Session at our 5th annual Rocktown Author Festival!

How do authors create characters and stories that authentically reflect the diverse world we live in? "Stories That Reflect Us All: Writing Diverse Characters and Narratives" explores the art of writing inclusive narratives, focusing on the importance of representation in literature. Our panelists will share their experiences and strategies for crafting characters from various cultural, racial, gender, and social backgrounds while avoiding stereotypes and tokenism. Attendees will gain insight into the challenges and rewards of writing with empathy, authenticity, and sensitivity.

Moderated by MRL's Library Director, Zach Elder, panelists for the session include: Liz Biddle, Allison K. Garcia, Amanda K. Gross, and Lee Swanson.

Register today to join us for a thought-provoking discussion on how diverse storytelling can foster understanding, connection, and empowerment for readers of all backgrounds!
