 War.'  Peggy's War is a fact-based novel based on Karl's great-great-grand
 mother\, Peggy Rhodes\, who ran a busy depot on the underground railroad i
 n the Shenandoah Valley during the Civil War. Her underground railroad ove
 rlapped occasionally with the one for fugitive slaves\, but she mostly pro
 tected Mennonites and Dunkers (Brethren) who refused to go to war for reli
 gious reasons. Peggy lived near Mole Hill in western Rockingham County. Sh
 e concealed up to six men at a time under her bedroom floor while her husb
 and was dying of consumption. \n\nMr. Rhodes will also share information a
 bout John Kline during this talk which will be of interest to Shenandoah V
 alley locals.
