Health Resources/Recursos de Salud
Massanutten Regional Library has recently added four government health resources on our Research and Learning web page. Each of the following resources provide free, up to date, reliable, and easy to read health information. Algunos de estos recursos también brindan información de salud en Español.
Medline Plus is published by the National Library of Medicine and is considered “the world’s largest medical library.” It provides information about health issues, diseases, and conditions. There is information on over 1,000 different diseases and conditions. Medline Plus has a video tutorial of the resources. Medline Plus también brinda información de salud en Español.
The National Library of Medicine’s Health Information website provides links to several different health related resources. These resources include general health information, drugs and supplements information, genetics, and environment health & toxicity issues, among other topics.
The National Institutes of Health resource provides up-to-date and reliable information on a variety of different health topics. It also has resources on how to better communicate with your doctors. The individual health topic pages also provide links to diseases or condition-specific patient organizations. Institutos Nacionales de la Salud también brinda información de salud en Español.
Lastly, the National Cancer Institute (NCI) is the U.S. Government’s principal agency for cancer research. Its website states that it offers “credible, current, comprehensive information about cancer prevention and screening, diagnosis and treatment, research across the cancer spectrum, clinical trials, and news and links to other NCI websites.” NCI también brinda información sobre el cáncer en Español.
