Author Talk: Evan Friss, Ph.D. & "The Bookshop"
JMU History Professor Evan Friss, Ph.D., will talk about his newest book, "The Bookshop: A History of the American Bookstore," with JMU English Professor Erica Cavanagh. The book explores the role that bookstores play in the lives of Americans, starting with Benjamin Franklin's first bookstore in Philadelphia. Using oral histories, archival collections, diaries, letters, and interviews with booksellers, Friss's book offers a look into the American bookstore. Parentheses Books will be on-site to sell copies of the book.
