Red Cross Blood Drive @Central Library
Help save lives at the Red Cross Blood Drive at Central Library! Our goal is 18 whole blood and 2 Power Red donations, which will provide lifesaving aid for more than 20 people.
- Whole blood donation: the most common type of donation, during which approximately a pint of "whole blood" is given - usually takes about an hour
- Power Red donation: collects the red cells but returns most of the plasma and platelets to the donor. Donors must meet specific eligibility requirements and have types A Negative, B Negative, or O blood
Donors can sign up to give blood through the Blood Donor App, by calling 1-800-REDCROSS, or online at redcrossblood.org and searching "22801." Donors can also save 15-20 minutes in the donation process by using RapidPass, which allows you to start the blood donation process from the comfort of your home or office. On the day of the Blood Drive, simply use RapidPass to answer your health history questions before you arrive - the Blood Donor App includes RapidPass, but you can also find it at redcrossblood.org/RapidPass.
Please eat a good breakfast or lunch, drink plenty of water, and bring a picture ID with you to the Drive! For help with online scheduling or login information, please contact Customer Care at 1-855-210-1278 or customercare@redcross.org from 8:30 AM to 9:00 PM.
If you give blood from August 1st to August 28th, you'll receive a $15 e-gift card to your choice of merchant (terms apply, learn more at redcrossblood.org)! Successful donations will also get free A1C testing, commonly used to screen for prediabetes and diabetes (1 test per result per donor in a 12-month period; no fasting required).
