Book Clubs

Book Clubs for Adults

MRL Book Clubs are great way to get connected in your local community. We offer a variety of clubs and styles to meet your reading interests. To find more information about an upcoming club date, please click the links below to contact the MRL leader of each club, or head to our Event Calendar. We hope you can join us!

Central Library - Harrisonburg

  • Sage & Page Book Club: 1st Wednesdays monthly at 6:30PM, at Sage Bird Ciderworks. Books are selected in three-month cycles. No registration required - contact Kayla Grose for details.
  • Cat Chats Book Club: 3rd Fridays monthly at 10AM, at Aristocat Cafe. Fiction books are selected in advance, and each meeting includes tea provided by MRL and time spent with the cats. Registration required monthly as space is limited - contact Kayla Grose for details.
  • True Crime Book Club: 4th Tuesdays monthly at 6PM, at Central Library. Books are selected in advance of the meeting. No registration required - contact Chris Fleming for details.

Elkton Community Library

  • Novel-Tea Book Club: 4th Tuesdays monthly at 6:30PM, at Elkton Community Library. Books are selected in advance of the meeting. No registration required - contact Beth Hildebrand for details.

Grottoes Branch Library

  • Mostly Books: 1st Mondays monthly at 10AM**, at Grottoes Branch Library. The club is an informal gathering of readers, no registration required and no books selected in advance - come share what you're reading and learn about new books! A list of titles, authors, and short critiques of what was discussed will be distributed after each meeting. Contact Peggy Counts for details.

** Please note: due to Labor Day, Mostly Books will meet on the 2nd Monday of September. After September, all Mostly Books meetings will continue to be on the 1st Monday of the month. 

North River Library

  • Tale Blazers (limited time only): Do you want to exercise AND read more? We've got the perfect seasonal book club for you! Adults can join us at Bridgewater Retirement Community's Crist Farm Walking Trails every 3rd Tuesday of the month (from June to October) to walk and chat about the monthly book pick. The first hour will be dedicated to walking the beautiful trail, and the second hour will be the book discussion! Registration is politely requested through our calendar for planning purposes. We'll meet at the entrance closest to Oakdale Park - contact Kayla Grose for details.

Page Public Library 

  • On the Same Page: join fellow readers at our book club for adults! We explore different genres with a specific book choice every first Tuesday of the month, at 6PM at Page Public Library in Luray. Contact Tanya Fulk for details!
  • Page-to-Screen: 2nd Mondays monthly at 6PM, at Saga Meadery in Luray. We'll talk about books adapted into movies and TV shows! We'll read the book and watch the adaptation prior to the meeting, and then get together to compare and share our thoughts. No registration required - contact Allison Brueckner for details.

Village Library - Broadway

  • Broadway Bookends: 3rd Wednesdays monthly at 4:30PM, at Village Library in Broadway. Books are selected in advance of the meeting. No registration required - contact Barbara Andes for details.
