Explore methods of using real history to craft better stories in a writing workshop led by Peregrin Sanchez of the Rocktown Writers Guild! Adults (ages 18+ only) will discover how to create more believable and engaging fictional narratives, settings, and characters using both historical events and real-world settings. Learn the importance of including diverse characters and cultures in authentic and respectful ways, and how to utilize real life as creative inspiration. You don't need any writing experience, but be prepared to complete writing exercises during the workshop!

Peregrin Sanchez is the co-founder and current Board President of the Rocktown Writers Guild in Harrisonburg, VA. In 2020, he left his hometown of San Francisco to move to his partner's family home in rural Appalachia, where the holler mists are as thick and magical as the city fog in July. When not doting over his parrot flock of four, experimenting with exotic ingredients, or thrifting for vintage menswear, he can be found at the local coffee shop or wine bar writing stories and essays by hand, with one of the many fountain pens from his sizeable collection!
