Deyerle Program Series on Local History - German POWs in Rockingham and Augusta Counties, 1944-1945

Local historian Gregory L. Owen will share research he did for his book "Wehrmacht Autumns" about German POWs who did farm work in Rockingham and Augusta Counties in the last years of WWII.

Owen is a George C. Marshall Scholar, conferred by the George C. Marshall Foundation at Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, VA for research and writing an expansive work in military history. Owen has written an extensive research guide regarding German Prisoners of War in the Plains District of Rockingham County, Virginia During World War II.

This is the first part of the Deyerle Program Series on Local History. This year's theme is Shenandoah Valley's Agricultural History.
