Story Times @ MRL
All story times are free and open to all. No library card required! Story times are an excellent way for caregivers to interact with their children, learn songs and activities to play, observe new ways of reading to their children, and support developing language skills.

1,000 Things Before Kindergarten
A little reading every day gets your little one ready for school! Earn a free, new book for every 100 read! Visit any MRL location to get started.
How it works: Read books and do suggested activities with your child. The goal is to have read 1,000 books and/or do 1,000 activities before the child starts kindergarten. Books and activities can be repeated. Books read at library story times count.
Feel free to print extra reading logs at home.
This program was created by the Library of Virginia and funded through a grant from the U. S. Institute of Museum and Library Services.
