Massanutten Regional Library Branches Celebrate Milestone Anniversaries

The Massanutten Regional Library invites patrons to celebrate as three branches recognize key anniversaries. The North River, Village, and Elkton branches of MRL host festivities throughout the next three months to commemorate their decades of service to the community.

"We are really excited to host these milestone celebrations," Director of Advancement Megan Medeiros said. "It's a great opportunity to connect with the community and share stories about the history and impact these branches have had on our patrons."

North River Library in Bridgewater kicks off the season celebrating 30 years of community service Oct. 11. The day includes family-friendly activities, such as Story Time with volunteer Jennifer Runion, and musical performances from Tator Bird and the Shenandoah Valley Ukulele Players. Guests can enjoy a light lunch and birthday cake while exploring history displays.

Village Library in Broadway celebrates its 75th anniversary on Nov. 8 with a pop-in event. Members of the community can stop by, view historical photo displays, and share stories among friends.

Elkton Community Library closes out the season celebrating 60 years of service in December with a "Holiday Open House," featuring a hot chocolate and candy bar. MRL encourages guests to bring the whole family out for holiday games, crafts, and a festive scavenger hunt.

All three events feature MRL's "Century of Stories" oral history project. Patrons can record onsite their experiences with the library over the years. The resulting stories are a part of a bigger project, gearing up for MRL's milestone 100th anniversary in 2028. You can learn more about the project here.

"We hope everyone in the community comes out to celebrate these milestone anniversaries with us, share their stories, and continue falling in love with our libraries," Medeiros said.
