MRL Names Medeiros New Director of Advancement

Massanutten Regional Library has hired Megan Medeiros as its new Director of Advancement, a role that focuses on fundraising initiatives, public relations, marketing communications, and community building for the seven-branch library system. Medeiros replaces Mary Golden Hughes, who had served since 2021.

Medeiros brings significant experience in nonprofit communications and marketing, most recently from the Furious Flower Poetry Center at James Madison University, where she also planned and executed the marketing for the Center’s Furious Flower 2024 Conference. Medeiros also served as an Adjunct Professor within the School of Writing, Rhetoric, and Technical Communication at JMU. She has also previously served within the African, African American, and Diaspora Studies Center at JMU.

Library Director Zach Elder says, “We are so happy to welcome Megan to our team. Her passion for public libraries is contagious and she’ll help share the positive benefits of MRL throughout our community.”

Medeiros states, “Public libraries have played a tremendous role in shaping the person I am. I am beyond thrilled for the opportunity to serve my community by supporting such an important network of libraries that provide services far beyond just free book lending.”
