MRL Brings Beth Macy to Harrisonburg!

Massanutten Regional Library is pleased to announce two events featuring award-winning journalist and author Beth Macy as part of the 2026 Rocktown Author Festival on April 25, 2026: a free keynote lecture at Central Library in Harrisonburg and a private happy hour with MRL donors at Hotel Madison following the festival.

Beth Macy, author of Dopesick, has won more than two dozen national journalism awards, including a Nieman Fellowship for Journalism at Harvard University, a Guggenheim Fellowship, and a Los Angeles Times Book Prize for Dopesick, which was made into a Peabody Award-winning series for Hulu. Three of her books have been New York Times bestsellers. She lives in Roanoke, Virginia. Her keynote, “Home and Family in a Fractured America,” follows the festival’s special Story Time with local author Gayle C. Krause and the author-led panel, “What I Wish I’d Known: Authors Talk Marketing;” registration for both the keynote and the panel are requested.

After the Rocktown Author Festival concludes, donors have the opportunity to meet Beth Macy and learn how MRL makes a positive impact on our community at a private happy hour at Hotel Madison from 4-6 PM. Tickets for this event are $50 each and include one free drink ticket and light hors d’oeurves (cash bar after), all proceeds support MRL and the resources and services they provide Harrisonburg City, Rockingham County, and Page County.
